Gateways and Capstones

Harvest believes in students showing their learning through meaningful work. We do this by having students present their work formally in English, History, Science and Social Studies by the end of 10th grade (Gateways) to move to Upper House and before graduation (Capstones) in lieu of Regents Exams. Gateways and Capstones are a historical research paper, literary analysis and a scientific investigation. Students must present and defend their ideas through questioning and discussion. More information is in the presentation link below:

Gateway Presentation

Capstones

Like a mini PhD thesis for high schoolers, students must present four Capstones [sometimes called PBATs or Performance Based Assessment Tasks] in order to graduate, in addition to the English Regents Exam.
